If you’re reading this, welcome to my blog! I guess I’ll start with the basics. My name is Emma and I just finished my junior year of college. I am a journalism major, which is thanks to my passion for writing. However, these past few years I’ve noticed that the more I have to write for school or work, the less I am writing and creating for pure enjoyment. It is so easy to get caught up in deadlines and assignments, that sometimes I forget to take time to do the things that fulfill me the most. This honestly makes me sad, which is why I decided to start this blog. I want to love writing again. I want to share work that I am passionate about. I want to connect with others through my writing. So, here we are.
My vision for this blog is to share personal posts, along with some of my professional work. While I am working on getting my professional career off the ground, I am still, at the end of the day, just a girl. In this blog you can expect to find real-time accounts of what it’s like to be a girl in her 20s trying to navigate this thing we call life. Think Rory Gilmore with a little Carrie Bradshaw. That’s me. Essentially, you can plan on having a peek into my diary. (Which is honestly both terrifying and exciting.)
If we’re going to be getting to know each other I guess I should share a few fun facts about myself.
- I love to travel. I actually spent a semester abroad living as an exchange student in Milan, Italy last year!
- I LOVE coffee! I probably drink way too much, but oh well, life is short! Yes, I am drinking a cup as I write this post. While I wouldn’t call myself a coffee snob, I have worked in the industry for the past five years- so I know a thing or two about a good cup of joe. When I’m not working on school work, I am usually behind the bar at my part-time barista job, which I love!
- My favorite TV shows are Friends, Sex and the City, and Gilmore Girls. (Which you could probably tell by my Rory and Carrie reference earlier.)
- My favorite podcast at the moment is Morbid. If you like true crime, mixed with a little light-hearted conversation, I recommend you give it a listen!
- My favorite way to hit the town is by attending any type of live music event. I love a good concert.
- I’m a fashion girly at heart. I actually almost went to art school for fashion before switching gears to journalism. I love shopping, thrifting, and anything of the sort. Probably more than what is healthy for my bank account. But as Miss Carrie Bradshaw once said, “I like my money where I can see it- hanging in my closet.”
Xoxo,
Emma
